There’s nothing like placing discount tickets on DVDS in a warehouse and boxing them up for distribution to remind you what you signed up for by being in show business.

Especially when those DVDS are The Mighty Ducks which you happen to be in.

I got pretty good at it. There is something meditative about repetitive action as anyone whoever works logistics knows. I learned my trade from El Machina. Who was a refugee from Pinochet’s Chile. We called him The Machine - because no one worked more Matrix-Neo like or possessed natural industrialized zen like El Machina. He was in touch with the spirit of John Henry2.0 and schooled us all on how to keep up with the assembly line and smile. But when you found yourself with free health care and college and you came from where he had been, there was a lot to smile about.

This was in Sweden. I forgot to mention that. I had moved there to escape the aftermath of crashing out from decades of chasing Hollywood dreams that ended with me painting houses — poorly, I might add. The painting part was easy, it was the patch work I often made a mess of. I had a habit of under estimating jobs because I wanted everyone to like me and didn’t value myself, and then would end up hating the job and the client, or rather, myself for my own upfront mistakes. So like El Machina, the idea of a Northern Utopia sounded sublime.
