Preview of this week's newsletter and Subscription updates
Or how you can help one writer help his community during the fight of our times.
Hello friends far and wide.
Later this week, I’ll be sharing a story about how Emilio Estevez prepared me for a life in the arts called “Captain, my captain.” But before I do, I wanted to take a second and thank all of you for subscribing, especially those of you who are paid subscribers.
As many of you are aware, there is a strike in our industry that I am very much active in (and why I am keeping this so brief because I am headed out to Paramount now) and your subscriptions have already begun to help ease the financial burdens.
I don’t have a trust fund, nor do I know any Guggenheims, so at this critical juncture in my professional career -- your $5 monthly contributions helps sustain me as I continue to employ artists, build community, advocate for others and develop my work in an increasingly shrinking marketplace. The gratitude I feel buoys me to continue this pursuit with a lightness of foot and faith.
Lastly , I would like to once again invite you to take the plunge and become a paid subscriber today (if you can afford the extra few bucks a month).
I always have referral options that allow for subscribers to peak behind the paywall as well. And I will be making one newsletter a month free to the public. This month’s free-view will be my comedic look at surviving bottom feeders and false promises - all the things they don’t teach you in liberal arts school about the well mannered brawl that is creative survival.
One more thing before I go —-
Some facts:
Last week, I was able to spend 40 hours further developing my new play Reign Of Terror to prepare it for the workshop it has been invited into. Additionally, I was able to hold internal creative meetings with collaborators, have brainstorm sessions with a creative producer on how to develop sustaining financial models for a new kind of theater, and research the world of my Ulysses S Grant bio project, all of which would have been impossible without your support. Plus, I was able to head to mountains with Chekhov and A. (see below).
Stay tuned for another tale from the pond. Stay warm to each other but not too warm out there. For those of you interested in coming to our Sunday write-ins, please reach out here.
And write on
